Procrastination – Three Ways to Defeat It

By Anthony D Carter

Change Habits. Change your habits by making a decision to react to your responsibilities in a proactive way rather than a passive manner. When you procrastinate you usually say, I’ll do it later.” You have to switch that to “I’ll do this right now.” Start a new habit by repeating this affirmation to yourself throughout the day: “I do it now”

Make a Short List.
Make a short to do list. Mark things off as you get them done. Keep the list short so that you are sure to complete it each day. After you have established the habit then you can increase the number of tasks on your list. Your confidence and excitement will soar as you start striking the completed tasks from your list. You will become more action oriented with each passing day.

Be Accountable.
Tell a supportive friend that you want to stop procrastinating and you want her to hold you accountable. Keep them informed about your progress. Let your accountability partner know what your results are on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. This person will be able to help you stick to your plan for improvement.
