Goal Setting – 5 Keys to Hitting Your Goals

By Anthony D Carter

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” ~ Napoleon Hill

The best way to obtain your burning desire is through the use of goal setting. Once you have set your goal you can then use these 5 keys to hit it.

1. Dream-You must have a big dream. Your dream should motivate you. It should drive you to do more than you ever dreamed possible. When your dream is big enough the facts don’t count. Your dream will push you to find the answers. It will cause you to stretch beyond current comfort zone. You will find yourself doing whatever it takes to get your dream. When setting your goals be sure that you are pursuing a big aspiration.

2. Plan- Develop a good plan. Solid planning gives you the most direct route to your goal. This eliminates wasted effort. With a good plan you will avoid unnecessary confusion and delays. Your plan will allow you to focus on the work with the confidence in knowing that what you are doing is going to give you exactly what you want.

3. Remember- No matter what is going on around you remember why you are striving to hit this goal. Sometimes when we are in the midst of struggles we tend to only focus on the problems. Keep your attention placed on the reasons why you want to successfully hit this goal. Remember why it mattered so much to you in the beginning.

4. Work- If you don’t do the work you will never hit your goals. Work is the currency that you exchange for what you desire. Work consistently. Do not take large amounts of time off from working towards hitting your goals. Consistency will protect you from worry indecision and procrastination. A solid work ethic is a vital component of successful goal achievement.

5. Persistence- Remain steady in good times and bad. Even when your work does not appear to be yielding any apparent results persist anyway. You have a solid plan and as you work your plan consistently over time the effort will eventually yield the positive results.

Here is a good example of what I mean by persistence paying off. When we first begin to work out on a regular basis our muscles get sore but we see no immediate positive results. After two or three weeks we see no changes in our physical appearance when we look in the mirror. Yet if we keep diligently working we begin to see noticeable changes around the six week mark. And after six months the results are impressive. You have to persist. Work at it until you hit your goal. Don’t quit. The results that you desire take time to manifest.
